The new fast-spreading computer virus Mydoom displayed on a computer screen in an office in Hamburg, Germany, on Wednesday, 28 January 2004. The new computer virus was detected Monday by e-mail security companies and spread quickly over the Internet prompting anti-virus companies to issue strong new warnings about opening suspicious emails. The virus, known as MyDoom or Norvag, spreads via an e-mail attachment. If the attached file is opened it replicates itself in e-mails to addresses in the victim’s contact list. E-mails containing the virus have various subject lines including ‘Mail Transaction Failed’, ‘test’ and ‘error’. EPA/Kay Nietfeld
